SYSLOG
======
WHAT IS IT?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SysLog is a port of NetBSD syslog software. SysLog let's you log messages
from various sources to various log files. SysLog consists of a shared
library (syslog.library) and programs:
SysLogDaemon - write log messages to files, console or serial port
logger - let's users to write messages to the system log
LOG: - a device that redirects everything to the system log
newsyslog - maintain log files
REQUIREMENTS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SysLog requires at least AmigaDos 2.04.
INSTALLATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Installation is easy, just click on the Installation icon and SysLog
will be installed. The installation is safe, there's no risk of overwriting
any files and you can later uninstall easily by using the uninstallation
script. This will completely remove SysLog from your system. If you
abort the installation, files that were installed will be deleted.
If you don't have the standard Amiga Installer-utility, you can download
it from any Aminet site, the file is: util/misc/Installer-1.25.lzh.
